Frequently Asked Questions

Why baitfeeder for catfish?
Catfish (especially big blues and channels) often pick up bait and slowly move off before truly committing. Setting the hook too early = pulled bait. Baitfeeder lets the catfish take bait freely and move off, then you engage the main drag and set the hook firmly.

Why Neon Orange finish?
HIGH VISIBILITY in low light. Catfishermen often fish at night or low-light conditions. Bright-colored reel makes it easier to see your gear, find equipment in the dark, and spot the reel on the rod holder.

Cat Slayer Custom (standard) vs Custom Baitfeeder?
Standard Custom ($75.99): single drag. Baitfeeder Custom ($89.99): adds the baitfeeder. For serious catfishing with cut/live bait, the $14 upgrade to baitfeeder is essential.

Saltwater care:
RINSE with fresh water after every saltwater trip. Spray reel exterior, work the drag and handle through full rotation while rinsing to flush salt from internal seals. Critical for long service life on saltwater-rated reels.

Spool with what line?
Match line type to reel application: Braided line (most common modern choice sensitivity, strength, no memory) for spinning and baitcasters. Monofilament for traditional applications. Fluorocarbon as leader. Match line weight to reel size and target species.
