Minn Kota Ulterra

The Minn Kota Ulterra is the most automated bow-mount trolling motor on the water. Auto Stow/Deploy lets you deploy or stow the motor with a single button press from the wireless remote, foot pedal, phone app, or Humminbird fish finder. Power Trim adjusts the motor’s depth on the fly without reaching over the bow. No other trolling motor does this.

Every Ulterra ships with the Advanced GPS Navigation Wireless Remote (full-size, LCD screen) but no foot pedal in the box. The Ulterra corded foot pedal is sold separately as SKU 1866081. All 5 SKUs include GPS, Bluetooth, One-Boat Network, Heading Sensor, and built-in sonar (DSC or MDI).

Important: Ulterra foot pedal is SKU 1866081 it is NOT the same pedal as Terrova (1866077) or PowerDrive (1866070). All pedals are corded (wired, 18′ cable). Minn Kota does not make a wireless foot pedal for any current trolling motor.

Why Choose Ulterra

Ulterra is the most hands-off trolling motor Minn Kota makes. Auto Stow/Deploy and Power Trim mean you never physically touch the motor during a fishing day deploy from your seat, trim depth from the remote, stow it when you’re done. It’s the only motor that offers this level of automation.

Ulterra vs. Terrova: Ulterra adds Auto Stow/Deploy and Power Trim Terrova has neither. Both are electric-steer with GPS, Bluetooth, and OBN. Ulterra ships with the full-size Advanced GPS Remote (same as Terrova). Ulterra does NOT include a foot pedal in the box (Terrova sonar models do). If automation is your priority, Ulterra. If dual-control (pedal + remote) out of the box is your priority, Terrova.

Ulterra vs. Ultrex: Ulterra is electric-steer with Auto Stow/Deploy and Power Trim. Ultrex is cable-steer with power steering. Both have GPS and OBN. Ulterra is about automation; Ultrex is about steering feel. They serve different anglers.

Does Ulterra come with a foot pedal?

No. Ulterra ships with the Advanced GPS Navigation Wireless Remote only no foot pedal in the box. The Ulterra corded foot pedal is sold separately as SKU 1866081. The foot pedal adds heel/toe steering, speed control, Spot-Lock, Auto Stow/Deploy, and Power Trim buttons at your feet.

Can I use Ulterra with just the wireless remote and no foot pedal?

Yes. Many Ulterra owners run the motor entirely from the wireless remote and/or the Minn Kota Phone App. The remote has full control of all GPS features, steering, speed, Auto Stow/Deploy, and Power Trim. The foot pedal is optional it adds pedal-based steering and a second control point, but it’s not required.

What is Power Trim?

Power Trim lets you adjust the motor’s running depth how deep the motor sits in the water with a button press from the remote, foot pedal, app, or Humminbird. Raise the motor in shallow water to avoid hitting bottom; lower it in rough water for better performance. No other Minn Kota motor has this feature (except Ulterra QUEST).

What size Ulterra do I need?

80 lb / 24V handles boats up to roughly 4,000 lb total loaded weight. 112 lb / 36V handles boats up to roughly 10,000 lb. The 45″ shaft fits most bass boats (80 lb only). The 60″ shaft fits larger boats, center consoles, and deeper-V hulls (available on both 80 and 112 lb). When in doubt, size up.

Ulterra vs. Ulterra QUEST what is the real difference?

Ulterra QUEST is brushless dual 24V/36V with up to 50% more torque, 30% longer runtime, Eco Mode, built-in heading sensor, and carbon-fiber shaft. Standard Ulterra is brushed, fixed voltage (24V or 36V). Both have Auto Stow/Deploy, Power Trim, and the same automation features. QUEST is the premium upgrade.
